Gabriella Master and Lori Obdyke, in coordination with Student Senate and the Spanish Honor Society, organized and ran Karaoke Night, a free senior-only event, on February 22. Seniors sang their hearts out with their peers in the TV Studio from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

In school, students spend most of their time in classes doing work, which can hide what people are capable of.  Kara Letizia stated, “You get to hear people sing that you didn’t expect to have such an amazing voice.”

Students performed pop hits like “I’m Yours” by Jason Mraz all the way to songs like “Seventeen” from the musical Heathers. “It’s a chance for everyone to let loose and enjoy the night,” said Megan Casper. “It’s just about having fun.”

Kerri Letizia felt excited about the positive atmosphere. She said, “I got to sing with my friends with no judgement from the audience!”

Victoria Faillia takes center stage to stage sing Whitney Houston’s “I Have Nothing.”

Karaoke Night provided an opportunity some people may not get outside of school. “Not only was it fun for me to sing, but it was fun being able to do it with my friends. Singing, dancing, and smiles all around,” said Casper. She sang both “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars, and “Rolling in the Deep” by Adele.

This year’s seniors have missed out on many traditional high school events because of COVID, but they want to make the most of senior year. Kathryn Ponath expressed excitement “to get everyone together to do something fun because we don’t have much time left in the school year to be together.”

Karaoke Night gave seniors a night they won’t forget. Kerri Letizia stated, “This night was truly magical and so much fun! My friends and I all had a blast!”
