On Thursday, September 28, the classes of 2024 and 2025 gathered to celebrate Homecoming. Surrounded by an extraordinary theme of A Knight in the Galaxy, over 400 students attended the sold-out dance.

The dance took place in the cafeteria, which volunteers had covered in decorations and lit up with galaxy-colored lights. “I thought the theme was displayed very well throughout the decorations,” said senior Ashwika Nukala. “The effort did not go unnoticed and really added to the night.”

A DJ stationed on the cafeteria stage blasted music all night. “My favorite part of the dance was how energetic it was!” junior Alexandra Rudaya exclaimed. “The music got us all dancing on our feet, and it gave us a time of our lives to have fun with our friends.”

Seniors Kayla Wilson and Saloni Gupta place a tablecloth to help prepare for the dance.

Students nominated the Homecoming Court through a Forms submission, and those with the most nominations qualified to run. At the dance, guests received two stones upon check in and placed them in labeled jars based on who they decided to vote for. “It was great. The rocks were pretty,” said Lauren D’Alessio. “I like that they didn’t keep the couples together, so every individual person had an equal chance.”

About halfway through the dance, Frank Papeo and Gabriella Malanga were named Homecoming King and Queen. “It felt amazing to be voted for by all my peers and be able to win Homecoming King together with Gabby,” stated Papeo.

They received crowns and sashes and guests circled them as they celebrated with a slow dance. “It was surreal hearing our names announced,” Malanga expressed. “I was in shock for a while after.”

Senior class advisors Jessica Tosonotti and Matthew Donaghue planned the event with the help of student volunteers who helped set up all the props and decorations. “The day-of was the hardest, assigning jobs, and doing all the manual work,” said Alexandra Nardone. “But all the helpful hands we had that volunteered to help made it all easier!”

After months of planning and organizing the dance to be worth the work. “It’s probably the highlight of my junior year!” exclaimed Kamila Omirzak.
