After having one of the most dominant seasons in Old Bridge history last year, the wrestling team looks to match that performance heading into the new year.
Two of the three standouts from last year’s team, Logan Roman and Emma Sagi strive to add to their outstanding high school careers. “Our team goals this year are Top 3 in the GMC, make a run in the state sectional tournament, and compete for a district team title,” said Roman, who finished last year 45-1 and secured the first NJSIAA State Tournament Championship for Old Bridge.
The team features a mix of juniors, including Jake Tenebruso and first-year wrestler Sam Larkin, and seniors, such as Roman, Sagi, Jenna Magrino, and Adriana Farese. “Last season ended in great achievements, and we’ve been working hard to have made even bigger achievements this season,” expressed Sagi.

Tenebruso had an impressive season last winter, making it to the State Tournament in Atlantic City but losing in the first round. “I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work over the off season in the gym and the wrestling room. I feel stronger than last year and I have continued to improve my technique. I feel great going into the season and I’ve set my goals high for this year,” said Tenebruso. “My teammates and I are ready for the season and are looking to be a top team in the GMC.”
In their first year as a full team, the girls finished third as a team in the GMC tournament with great performances by Emma Sagi and Jenna Magrino. “It means a lot to me that I and the girls’ team have made such an impact over the past few years,” announced Sagi proudly. “The team started as just two girls and has now grown into an entire starting lineup.”

The wrestling teams can’t wait for the season to start. Come out and support the wrestling team at their home opener on December 15 at 6:00pm against Monroe.
