The boys and girls track teams look to improve on last season’s and set new personal records.
Winter track requires a different type of training compared to the spring. “To prepare for the cold weather, I would wait until nighttime and go on jogs to help get a feel for the wind and cold temperatures,” said senior Kelvin Molina.
Both teams have lost some key seniors due to graduation, and they look to focus on improving. “Everybody is aware that we need to step up,” said junior Stephen Davies. “There’s a lot of big shoes to fill, so we’re just hoping and training to fill them successfully.”

Sophomore Victoria Botte, a standout performer last year, comes off a season where she placed first in the 1600 in the GMC championships. “This season, coming up, I’m trying to PR in the 800 and 1600 from last season,” said Botte. “I even started going on a runner’s diet. I want to stay focused and keep running PRs every race.”
The group of throwers features five seniors who did an outstanding job last season coming up big in tournaments. “We had guys throwing all summer, and now we’re hoping that in our second year on varsity we can place high in the GMC,” said senior Lucas Thomas.

The team has improved their connections through the off-season training and workouts. “The team chemistry is amazing this year,” said junior Carly Cutrone. “We may not have a huge team, but we are one strong little family.”
The boys and girls track team will attempt to continue their dominant runs in their next meet on January 2 at 2:45pm.
