Makeup allows people to express themselves and get creative. Whether through a crazy eye look or a bold lip color, it serves as a statement of individuality. However, choosing the right products can pose a challenge, considering factors like complexion, skin type, and personal aesthetic. Regular makeup users provided insight on the products they discovered work best.
A complexion booster called Elf Halo Glow, the most popular product, provides a sheer tint. “My holy grail makeup product is the elf halo glow because it makes my base look natural but glowy,” shared senior Mya Navarrette. Halo Glow, although lighter than a foundation, still provides coverage.
In general, Elf products received positive reviews. Multiple students shared that their makeup routine includes all Elf products, which adapt to different skin types. Nevertheless, it stands as one of the most affordable makeup brands right now. “My skin is naturally dry, so finding a product that mixes perfectly with my moisturizer during the winter and summer was so challenging,” said Navarrette. “Halo Glow goes on smoothly and stays on no matter what.” Having a long-lasting base proves crucial when doing makeup.
Concealer plays an important step in perfecting a base. Tarte Shape Tape concealer takes the prize for a medium coverage concealer that can build. “I use Tarte concealer because I like the dewy natural look,” shared senior Jordyn Oliver. As a personal Tarte concealer user, I can attest that its ongoing value justifies the price. It stays on for hours, and it does not crease. As someone with oiler skin, I appreciate having a matte concealer.
Alternately, Oliver shared, “I also like to beat my face with Two-Faced concealer.” The Two-Faced Concealer, oil free, provides hydrating effects for the skin.
Eyelashes remain a case-by-case situation. Some people prefer fake eyelashes over mascara and vice versa. Maybelline Lash Sensational and Loreal Telescopic holds widespread favor among many. Both provide a different enhancing look.
“My favorite make up product is my Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara,” shared senior Amiya Bishop. “I naturally have long lashes, so it just enhances my features.” Lash Sensational has a thicker formula so it gives a darker voluminous look to the eyes. I, personally, adore Lash Sensational because it always makes my eyelashes look fuller.
However, Telescopic has a thinner formula that gives the lashes length. Instead of thick lashes, this mascara highlights each lash and makes them look longer. Junior Carly Cutrone said. “I love Telescopic!”
Investing in good quality makeup remains crucial for expanding and enhancing one’s makeup collection. It ensures both long-term wearability and a flawless finish for any makeup routine.
