On February 4, Trevor Noah hosted the 2024 Grammys, where various musicians received 94 awards. The night broke a record by becoming the most streamed event ever with 17 million views.

The night included 21 performances by a variety of artists, such as Olivia Rodrigo, Billie Eilish, Travis Scott, and Luke Combs. “I loved the Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs one,” said Charlotte Hankenson.

Women took over the night, dominating in most of major categories, such as “Album of The Year,” and “Best New Artist.” Taylor Swift won “Album of the Year,” for her album “Midnights,” making her the first four-time winner. “It was great! It was nice to see,” shared Hankenson.

Stars like Miley Cyrus, Victoria Monét, and Lainey Wilson each won Grammys for the first time. “The highlight of the night for me was Miley Cyrus winning her first grammy and being so happy during her performance that she changed her lyrics to celebrate,” shared Sophia Arlotta.

Phoebe Bridgers ended the night with four Grammys in her hand, the most awards out of everyone. “I am so happy. I think she 100% deserves every single award she got,” shared Emily Stuart. Bridgers received three Grammys for her work with her band, boygenius, and one for her solo music.

14 time Grammys Winner, Taylor Swift, walks the red carpet at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards.

Other female artists won awards, too. “I was so happy to see SZA win an award,” shared Ameya Williams. Lizzo presented the Grammy to SZA that night for Best R&B Song, leaving SZA with tears as she accepted the award for her song “Snooze.”

Trevor Noah made sure to keep his jokes appropriate and funny, so he wouldn’t hurt anyone’s feelings. “I thought Trevor was a good host, some of his jokes were funny,” shared Stuart.

Taylor Swift fooled Reputation (Taylors Version) believers by announcing her new album’s release date instead of the anticipated re-release. “I kind of thought [she would announce Reputation], but I was also kind of skeptical because I thought she was going to announce it so many times before,” said Stuart.

Olivia Rodrigo, who performed at the Grammys and recieved multiple nominations, walks the carpet at the 2021 Oscars.

Instead, Swift announced the release date of her new album, The Tortured Poets Department, “It’s nice to hear she’s finally coming out with something new,” shared Sophia Arlotta.

The memorable event featured everything a fan could want, from great performances and first-time winners and broken records.
