The boys tennis team ended last season with a 5-12 record. However, the team already has plans to rise above their competition this season. With a fresh start and new starters, the team has a chance to shine.
The team’s upperclassmen have developed an eagerness to see what the upcoming season holds. “I’m looking forward to seeing lots of teamwork and collaboration,” expressed junior Mahin Patel, who ended last season with a win against Raritan. “I can already see that the guys are being more talkative, and I can see them helping each other out.”
Team members set personal goals to push them to improve. “My first goal was to make it to singles, and I already accomplished that,” said sophomore Elijah Cabalan. “I hope to get a better position on the team and get more wins than last season.”
Returning players each prepared for the new season in their own ways. “I’ve been consistently playing during the offseason and making sure my teammates play as well,” voiced senior Vasanth Kumaravadivelu.

Despite the loss of experienced players to graduation, the team has adopted a positive and hopeful attitude. “I expect our team to do a little better than last year since we all got better, and we have new players that can help us,” stated Cabalan.
The team’s first match takes place on April 1 at 10am against Iselin Kennedy at the Old Bridge Municipal Complex. With several games over spring break, the boys have a chance to establish a strong start.
