After a disappointing 8-10 season last year, the boy’s lacrosse team returns to the field, hungry for wins. The team will feature a veteran offense, a rebuilt defense, and a new game plan.
With over 15 seniors on the roster, the team can count on their experienced leadership, especially from Jason Testa, Gavin Giles, Luke Kennedy, and Christopher Fortunes. “We have a lot of seniors on the team this year, so we have high expectations,” said Fortunes. “Last year was a hiccup but we think this year we can be dominant in and out of conference.”
With the players responsible for 119 of the team’s 137 goals returning this season, the offense can pick up where it left off and lead the team to success. “The expectation is to compete for a GMC Championship. We have a lot of talent this year and are ready to win.” stated Kennedy

Last year, Jordan Christensen blew right through expectations for a sophomore as he led the team with 39 goals in 16 games. “I think the strength of the team is going to be our offense,” stated Christensen.
The team plans to employ a new offensive philosophy to take advantage of Christensen and the other veterans. “Unlike last year, where we would slow the ball down, we are a tempo team and are looking to push the ball on offense and put a lot of pressure on defense,” said sophomore Dylan Vislocky “The expectation is to keep the game fast, tire out the other team, and compete for a GMC or State title.”

Vislocky will take over at goalie for the team following the graduation of two-year starter Kyle Janks. “I know it’s a huge responsibility and huge shoes to fill but I’m ready for it,” stated Vislocky, who learned about his position change at the end of last year and spent the off-season preparing.
The boys possess high energy and expectations to start the year. “It feels great to see so much energy on the field,” said Kennedy. “These first five days are the hardest playing and most locked in I’ve seen OB lax in my four years. It’s very exciting.”

For the senior-stacked team, this season represents their last chance to make their mark and establish a winning legacy. “It seems everyone wants it more this year,” said Fortunes. “Most guys on the field this season have been playing for three years now and have LOST for three years in a row. We’re ready to win and it shows during practice.”
“I think that we are going to have a good season with a winning record, and I think we’ll win the GMCs,” predicted Christensen. The team will open the season on the road against Red Bank Regional on April 2, but the boys will face Monroe on April 16 at 5:30pm at Geick Parkfor their home opener.
