On May 29, the boys lacrosse team’s season came to a close, ending with a record of 13-9. After a 4-6 start, the boys went 9-3 to close out the season and beat their record last year of 8-10, showing growth and improvement.

Despite their loss in the GMC Tournament Semi-Finals, the boys had an exceptional season. On April 9, the team beat East Brunswick 9-8. “It was a tough game, and we were losing the whole time until the last five minutes of the game, which was when we took the lead and won,” expressed junior Jordan Christensen.

Christensen has led the team throughout the season with 57 goals and 69 points, proving himself as one of the most valuable players on the team. “I stay motivated by keeping my head up and making sure I’m being good leader for my teammates to follow,” stated Christensen.

On April 16, the team played Monroe and showed intense effort by partaking in four overtimes. Despite the loss, the team did not give up and continued to play from their hearts, “Since we had four overtimes it showed how hard we work to even be in four overtimes,” said junior Gianni Quagliariello.

Senior Gavin Giles, who led the team with 27 assists, cradles the ball and looks to get past the defense.

The Knights showed the same resolve a 10-9 double-overtime win over Middletown South on April 27. “We had been in OT situations before and felt good going into it,” stated senior Luke Kennedy. “We knew we were going to win, and it felt great when we did.”

The boys’ win against Middletown South started a six-game road win streak. “Everyone believes in everyone and pushes each other to be better,” said senior Dylan Collete.

Junior attacker Jordan Christensen, who led the team in scoring with 57 goals, fires a pass to a teammate.

They beat South Brunswick 11-3 on the boy’s Senior Night, April 30. “We had to make a statement, and we did against South Brunswick on our Senior Night by only letting up three goals,” said senior Dylan Vislocky.

Next, the boys beat Cherry Hill East 10-9 May 2 and continued their streak by beating Phillipsburg 12-6 on May 4, Montgomery 16-6 on May 7, and Red Bank Catholic 14-6 on May 2.

The team had a good run, making it to the GMC Semi-Finals. “It was a challenging match, but we managed to give up no goals in the 2nd half,” sophomore goalie Dylan Vislocky stated.

Sophomore goalie Dylan Vislocky and junior defender Joseph Lanzafama guard the goal.

With the season now ended, seniors treasure their time on the team. “We have great team chemistry,” voiced senior Christopher Fortunes. “In my four years playing sports at Old Bridge High School, I can say these are the guys I’ve been the closest with. Truly my best friends.”
