Roaring into Junior Prom

Approximately 300 juniors attended Junior Prom in the courtyard on May 30. Junior class faculty advisors Liz Todaro and Nicole Mondano brought the theme “Great Gatsby” to life with their hard work and dedication.

“Between the lights, photo booths, and the backdrops, there were so many nice spots,” said Alyssa Penn. Junior volunteers decorated the courtyard with black and gold accents, such as streamers, tablecloths, balloons, and backdrops available for photo opportunities.

Marilyn Cordero and Azizza Kargbo spin each other around while listening to the DJ.

The night included a dinner catered by Bagel Boy. “They served good food such as pasta, salad, chicken, and meatballs,” shared Morgan Moreno. Scattered tables provided the scene with room for everyone to enjoy their food in a relaxed atmosphere.

The evening featured a photobooth for all the students to enjoy and take as many pictures as they liked all night. Many props, such as big glasses and funky hats, enhanced most prints. “My favorite part about junior prom was getting to take pictures with my friends,” said Maddison Carrol.

Anthony Cruz-Riano dances with Simone Attaya and Nathan Pitts dances with Isabella Newsome for the first song of the night.

The focus of any school dance revolves around the music! DJ James played classic hits that everyone knows and loves and had everyone jamming out until the very end of the night. “‘Low’ by FloRida and ‘Mr. Brightside’ by the Killers are always good party songs and everybody definitely had a lot of energy during those,” said Penn.

Many students ventured to friends’ houses for parents to take pictures of everyone while they looked freshly put together. “We took photos beforehand at my best friend’s house with my friend group,” said Moreno. “Everyone met up and we had a backdrop and balloons.”

Ava Stein and Nancy Aboukhadrah jam out on the dance floor.

“I had so much fun the night was perfect,” said Penn. The hard work put into the night by staff and students paid off. The music, food, and company made the event a real success, leaving everyone happy despite their feet hurting.
