On June 5, family, friends, and staff gathered in the TV studio to watch students from all grades share their musical talents in the annual Cabaret show.

Twenty-five students participated, singing showtunes from 14 different musicals. “The Cabaret gives everyone a chance to show off their voice and what they can do while singing their favorite songs,” said Emily Stein.

The event raises money for Broadway Cares/ Equity Fights Aids. “This year we raised a total of $500,” said Jessica Tosonotti, who organized the event with Jennifer O’Reilly.

Melanie Liamero sings “Burn.”

Seniors Megan Borsilli, Noah Feldman, Alexandra Nardone, Sam Tropea, and Stein hosted the event. The five students announced each act and provided witty commentary for the audience. “It was such a fun experience getting to collaborate with other seniors to add some silliness to the Cabaret while still getting the job done,” said Nardone.

The Cabaret, put on by the drama department, allows students to sing their favorite songs from musicals they did not have the chance to perform in school. “It was cool to pick a song to perform that I really felt connected to,” shared junior Madison Carroll.

Camryn Burniston performs “Stars.”

Junior Megan Valanzola, who starred in this year’s Spring Musical, performed for her second time in the cabaret.  “I love being a part of the Cabaret, as I love getting to watch people show off their talents,” said Valanzola. “It feels amazing that I can be a part of such an intimate performance like that. It’s super inspiring!”

The cabaret also provides a fantastic opportunity for ensemble members, or behind-the-scenes crew to showcase their musical talents. “It felt really good to perform because I usually don’t get the chance to sing much on my own,” shared senior Abigail McManaman. “It was a little nerve racking at first, but it felt better knowing I was surrounded by many supportive people and friends.”

Noah Feldman and Sam Tropea introduce one of the acts.

The show found major success, leaving many students pleased with their final performances. “It was such an amazing opportunity to get to perform at Old Bridge with my senior friends for a final time,” Carroll said.
