On September 26, juniors and seniors gathered in the OBHS cafeteria for the annual homecoming dance.
Class advisors Liz Todaro and Nicole Mondano transformed the school into the wonderful world of Neverland. “We’ve been preparing for Homecoming since last year,” shared Todaro. “Turning the hallway into Neverland was our focus,”
Groups of students worked hard to create the scene from Peter Pan in the days leading up to the dance. “We have the PEER kids and the Level 4 Woodworking boys helping us,” said Mondano. “We also worked over the summer thrifting various things to create our vision, including making fairy houses out of cable spools.”

The 400-plus students who attended had the chance to walk through Neverland as they arrived. “The school was decorated so pretty,” said junior Natalia Palmiero.

The concept of a Neverland theme intrigued attendees. “I was very excited for the Peter Pan theme,” said senior Francesca Panetta. ”I thought it was the cutest, and they executed it very well.”
Like previous years, homecoming tradition includes appointing a queen and king, and, this year, attendees voted for Isabella Ong and Adrien Torres. “I was shocked because I didn’t expect them to say my name, but I’m glad they did because it’s a great memory,” said Ong.
After the initial shock, the king and queen received crowns and sashes. “I was excited and glad that I heard my name,” added Adrien Torres. “My friends being in the front of the crowd with me made it a great experience.”

Overall, students enjoyed all of the beautiful and memorable aspects of homecoming. “My favorite part of homecoming was dancing with my friends because we all just had so much fun together,” said Palmiero.
