Students and staff came together on October 18 to increase awareness of breast cancer and hold various fundraisers throughout the school day and into the night. Approximately 3,000 fans attended the football game, a win for the Knights, at the center of the event and expressed their support by showing up in their most festive pink attire.
The proceeds raised through the various services will go to a senior whose family has been affected by breast cancer through the Pink Out Scholarship fund. “The scholarship is a great way to show awareness toward Breast Cancer,” junior Gianna Peterson stated.

The Cosmetology program sold popcorn and offered various beautification services, such as face paint, hair tinsel, and nails. “I think so many students get involved because Pink Out is for a good cause, and it’s seen as a holiday here in Old Bridge,” stated Cosmetology student Marina Ortega.

T-shirts sold in the Student Life Office raised more money for the fund and acted as a ticket for entry to the football game. “It is for a good cause, and people like to get involved in something, knowing their peers are going to get involved as well,” stated senior Gabriel Aguiar.
Hundreds of students wearing pink to show their support for those affected by breast cancer filled the bleachers at the annual Pink Out football game. “My favorite part is getting into the theme of pink and cheering on the football team,” Aguiar expressed. “Not only do you get to cheer for your school and support your friends, but you are bringing awareness to a good cause.”

The football team defeated Hunterdon Central 35-8. “Everyone was so excited, cheering on the football team, and shouting,” noted junior Emily Barnhardt. “The energy was through the roof, especially in the student section.”
Throughout the game, the cheer team, dance team, and marching band performed, helping keep students hyped. “My favorite part of the event is performing in halftime since I’m on the dance team,” junior Natalia Palmiero revealed. “Dancing with the girls cheers everyone up,”
Pink Out, often considered the biggest event of the year, always brings a large student turnout to support the noble cause. “It’s a time to come all together and celebrate Old Bridge’s favorite holiday while remembering [the] true meaning of it,” Palmiero added.
