On October 29, the Student Senate hosted the third annual Halloween Movie Night at Lombardi Field. Approximately 500 students bought tickets for The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It to show support for the school and celebrate the upcoming holiday.

Students voted through a Microsoft form toetermine the movie shown this year. Options on the survey included popular horror and Halloween films Beetlejuice, Coraline, Hocus Pocus, Poltergeist, A Quiet Place, Us, and The Conjuring, which won by popular demand. “The Conjuring is one of my favorite movie series, so I’m really glad our school decided to play it for movie night,” said Giana Derasmo.

Movie Night provided students with an opportunity to spend time with their peers while supporting the school community. “What I liked about movie night was that students brought their friends with them to enjoy the night,” shared Jolie Vasfailo. “Afterwards, some students helped clean up the trash at Lombardi Field, which was appreciated.”

Rebecca Denota, Charlotte Hage, Anna Yehia, and Monika Janczuk share smiles as they watch the movie.

Not only did Movie Night offer a great way to make memories with friends, it provided many students an escape from assignments and assessments. “I originally wasn’t going because I was stressed about school,” added Alyssa Bumbico. “But my friends told me it would be a good opportunity to forget about my stress and school and just have fun.”

The concession stand gave students a chance to buy snacks, such as churros, hot pretzels, and candy. “I loved the variety of snacks offered at the snack stand,” said Issac Choi.

For the majority of students who attended Movie Night, spending time with their friends made their experience better. “The highlight was spending time with my friends and having a good night by watching a great movie,” shared Jake Babst.
