At 7pm on March 20, March 21, and March 22, the Drama Department will present the musical, 42nd Street. The production features 42 cast members, with students from all grades coming together to put on an amazing show.
The musical features aspiring chorus girl, Peggy Swagger, played by junior Emma Pepe, in New York City playing her first big role in the ensemble of a glitzy new Broadway show called Pretty Lady. “It feels great to have this role! It is a lot of work, but it is so much fun, and I am so excited to perform!” expressed Pepe.

A select few freshmen earned roles in the musical, such as Emma Fanetti and Giuseppina Saraceni. “I was very surprised to get a role at all, and I was very excited when I saw the cast list!” stated Saraceni, who plays Lorraine Flemming, a chorus girl who befriends Peggy.

The cast auditioned for the musical in early December and rehearsed songs, scenes, and choreography since the beginning of January. “The audition process was nerve-wracking, but it was a standard process of singing, dancing, and reading scenes,” stated Fanetti who plays Gladys, a character who helps guide Peggy on her way to stardom.
The seniors in the cast this year will perform on the OBHS stage for the last time, marking the end of their high school acting careers. “It’s been a really fun experience so far, and I’m less focused on it being my last and rather excited to perform in such a great show,” stated senior Joaquin Rivera.

With the loss of many seniors last year, everyone in the cast, especially the seniors, needed to rise to the occasion to fill the spots of those who left. “It feels very rewarding knowing that I will be able to showcase all of my hard work, and it is also a great honor because this cast is an immensely talented group of students who I am so grateful to be a part of,” expressed Fanetti.
All three shows will take place at 7PM in the OBHS auditorium. Students can buy tickets for $7 and adults and other guests can buy tickets for $15 using this link anytime, but no cash will be accepted.
