On June 7, 2024, Charli XCX released her sixth studio album BRAT. Almost a year after its release, this album has continued to make waves in the music industry, pop culture, and everyday life.
Known for her popular songs, such as “Boom Clap” and “I Love it”, XCX has built her career as a hyperpop queen. “She is literally reviving early 2000s club and rave culture by making chaotic electric music feel way more mainstream,” said sophomore Max Towell.

Charli’s music mixes many genres, something not many artists have accomplished successfully. “Charli XCX has always been a game changer and revolutionary,” said Raphael Capangpangan.

Students enjoy certain aspects of Charli XCX’s music. “Being able to push the limits of hyperpop/pop is her greatest talent,” said Brianna Espinal, who recently attended the BRAT arena tour. “She continues to pass that talent, by helping write songs with other artists.”
Charli, who has recently completed a part of her 2025 arena tour, has had many notable moments throughout this era. “One moment that sticks out to me is the sweat tour Charli went on with Troye Sivan.” said Maya Mystkowski. “We got to see other artists that Charli has collaborated with be featured on the tour and we got to hear the live remixes of songs.”

With a wide range of songs to choose from, Charli has a perfect song for everyone. “My favorite song is ‘So I’ because it’s about Charli’s dead friend Sophie, who was Charli’s muse,” said Espinal. “It is sweet she still associates her songs with Sophie because one of her most recent songs has a sample of Sophie singing.”
At the end of a recent concert appearance, Charli passed the torch to the next artists releasing music this summer including ASAP Rocky, Lorde, and Ethel Cain. “I think this is only the start,” said Towell. “Charli let everyone know she wasn’t done at the end of her week 1 Coachella performance.”
