The drama department will premiere the annual fall comedy, “Rumors,” on November 20. The cast and crew have worked extensively to produce an outstanding show.
The play features four couples attending a dinner party when a series of chaotic and wacky scenarios ensue. “The production is basically about a couple of guests showing up to their friend’s party and finding out something terrible has happened,” said Krysten Cotangco, who plays Cassie Cooper. “They try their very best to cover up a potential scandal with a bunch of stories that lead to rumors.”

The preparations process has entailed long days and daily rehearsals, all with the intent to perfect the performance. “Since the cast list was announced in September, we have been rehearsal practically every day,” said Camryn Burniston, who portrays Lenny Ganz, a frustrated accountant. “We blocked the show and now are adding props, mics, and other things while running the show to make sure we are ready for the real deal.”

This year’s show relies heavily on verbal humor. “This show differs from productions in previous years because this show has a lot more verbal wit than physical comedy,” said senior Olivia Medina, who portrays the role of Cookie Cusack.
The cast and crew have worked closely together to ensure a smooth sailing show. “Within any sort of acting project, it is crucial that the actors have good chemistry so they can bounce ideas, actions, and jokes off of each other and create an incredible show,” shared Burniston.

Despite inevitable nerves, the cast feels strongly that their hard work will shine with their performance. “I think I will be a little nervous at first because it’s my first comedy, but, once I step on the stage, I think that I will get filled with excitement from the audience’s reactions to the show and just enjoy the moment,” said senior Emily Barnhardt, who plays a gossip fiend named Claire Ganz.
Attendees should expect hysterical humor and outstanding performances. “This story is extremely interesting and the cast has been working extremely hard in order to put on the best show possible,” said Medina.
The comedy will run on November 20 and 21 at 7pm in the Auditorium. Get your tickets now through this link or at the door.
