On December 1, Dr. Vincent Sasso will become the superintendent of Old Bridge Township Public Schools. After serving as principal of OBHS since 2013, and before that as a vice principal, the Board of Education appointed Dr. Sasso as the new superintendent on October 28.
Faculty, students, and community members gathered in the auditorium to watch the Board of Education vote on Dr. Sasso’s new position, which passed unanimously. Dr. Sasso then gave a heartfelt speech to the crowd. “There was an overwhelming outpouring of support from not only staff and other coworkers of his but even parents of students and the incredible number of student athletes that were there to support him,” Psychology teacher Elio Bustamante said.

Dr. Sasso started as a vice principal in 2005 and has become an integral part of the community. “It’s been 14 years, 20 years total, 14 years as principal of the high school,” said Dr. Sasso. “I’m excited about the opportunity to move up.”

His hard work and intense dedication to the school makes this promotion well-deserved but also bittersweet. “I’m going to miss this place every day, but I’ll still be here, so it’s not like I’m leaving forever,” said Dr. Sasso.
Parents, students, and teachers alike have shown their support and excitement for Dr. Sasso in this new position. “I could not be more happy and excited for our entire district that Dr. Sasso is the new superintendent,” said history teacher and OBHS graduate Joseph D’Amico. “He is an incredible human being and leader, and I have looked up to him since I started working here.”

The students of OBHS can recall countless memories of their experiences with Dr. Sasso. “Getting to spend every morning with him doing announcements is my favorite memory,” said Dylanie Canzano. “It’s the best way to start my day, and he never fails to put everyone in a good mood.”
Dr. Sasso has one thing he wants every student to know before he continues his journey. “I wanted to make sure that every student always knew that this place was safe, this was home, and that they were loved,” said Dr. Sasso.
Going forward, Sally Fazio will take over as principal of the main building and James Oliveri as the principal of the EMGNC. Congratulations and good luck, Superintendent Dr. Sasso.
