After tough seasons last year, the bowling teams plan to rebuild. This season, the bowlers set a high standard for themselves and started working towards a better season.

The teams will focus on reconstruction after last  season. “We have been practicing a lot over the summer, and almost all of us raised our scores by 20 points,” said Micheal DelGatto, who finished last season with an average of 176.36.

The teams have displayed massive improvements. “The training is going much better than it did last year, for sure,” said Kateryna Fadieieva. “I’m really hoping to continue improving throughout this season.”

Practicing plays a crucial role for the teams, so they got an early start with practice before the season officially started. “We are practicing whenever we can. I personally practice at least 4-5 days a week,” said Junior Mason Sorrentino “I try as much as possible to practice with my teammates because we all help each other get better.”

Junior Nicholas Behrman winds his arm back ready to knock down some pins.

All of the key players on the girls team will return for another season while the boys team only lost one player due to graduation. “My favorite part about being on the team is spending time with my teammates and lifting each other up in competition,” said Savanah Funk..

Funk, a four-year player, enters her last year. “I’ve spent my whole high school year with this team and every year I’m sad when people leave so this year will be especially hard,” expressed Funk, who had a high set of 556 last year.

Eleni Kyrifides, the second highest scorer for the girls team, gets ready to launch the ball.

The boys will open the season against St. Josephs, the reigning GMC Red Division Champions on December 1. “We expect to WIN, and, hopefully, we will be one of the best this season,” stated Sorrentino.

The next day, December 2, the girls team will also face last year’s Red Division Champions, Woodbridge. “I am excited since it’s my senior year and I can bowl with all my teammates for one last year,” said captain Eleni Kyrifides,  who finished the season as the second highest scoring player last year.
