With a 6-2 record in the county, the ice hockey team shows a promising season. On their senior night, the Knights won 11-1 against J.P. Stevens, a good way to celebrate their seniors.
On January 6, the day of his senior night against J.P. Stevens, senior Nick Gallo beat the Old Bridge High School record for most career points. “The feeling of making history and being a part of Old Bridge Ice Hockey’s legacy is something I am very proud of,” said Gallo.
At this point in the season, he has scored 47 points, only twelve shy of his career high. “My teammates are to thank for that,” said Gallo.
The team features a total of seven seniors, and all of them want to end their high school careers on a high note. “I’ll make it great by leaving everything I can out on the ice,” said senior defender Jason Wheeler.

Originally down 3-2 against Colonia on December 12, the Knights scored two goals in the final period to win the game 4-3. “It was important to me because of how hard we fought to come back and win the game in amazing fashion,” said junior goalkeeper Benjamin Hayon with 227 saves already this season.
The team earned a 5-3 win against Monroe/South Brunswick after losing 4-3 towards the beginning of the season. “It felt good to get a ‘W’ against our rivals,” said junior Maddox Kirschner.
The Knights will most likely have to face South Brunswick/Monroe again in the GMC Tournament to win the championship. “We are excited to compete vs them again,” said Gallo.

With a record of 7-6, the Knights have pushed relentlessly to earn wins against tough competition. “The highlight of the season so far has been getting to a winning record,” said senior Dylan Vislocky with 31 points scored this season.
Not only have returning players played great, but newer players also have proved themselves. “I’ve had some really good games this season, and it always feels great when we win,” said Aiden Ritz, a sophomore goalkeeper who already has 30 saves his first year on varsity.
Today at 3:45 at the Old Bridge Municipal Complex, the Knights will take on a tough Rumson-Fair Haven team and seek revenge for their defeat in the NJSIAA Tournament last year.
