The girls’ bowling team ended the season with a record of 10-10, and the boys finished with a 3-16 record, winning two out of their last four games. The girls came back strong after winning just two matches last season and losing in the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament.
The girls entered the NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV Tournament as the six seed and defeated the 11-seeded Hunterdon Central and three-seeded Jackson to reach the semifinals. “It felt exciting … that our team won and that this is the first time I won for something bigger than just a game for fun,” said freshman Emma Barahona. The girls lost to the eventual champion, Howell, to end the season.
Senior Savannah Funk ended the season with the highest girl average in her team with a 162.85. Besides working with her team for the past four years, she made it to the state sectional tournament individually. “We just kept positive energy and kept out of our heads,” said Funk.
The boys’ team beat Colonia in the first round of the GMCs and J.P. Stevens in the first round of the NJSIAA Tournament. “It felt good qualifying to the second round,” said Logan Endres, who rolled a high game of 255 this season. “Winning was special because it gave the team a boost of confidence that was well needed.”

The boys pushed through despite the challenges they had to take on after setting a high standard for this season. “The biggest challenge this season was getting into our own heads throughout the matches,” said junior Michael Delgatto, who tied for the highest game on the team this season with 269. “We worked through the challenge by helping each other in our own ways.”
Junior Mason Sorrentino ended the season with the highest average of the boys team- 197.86. “I think overall the team performed good. We do need to work a little bit on the mental part of bowling,” said Sorrentino. “The mental game is 80% of any sport and simply not keeping a cool head can severely mess up teamwork and your own performance. That’s why there is always time to improve and change your approach to the sport!”

The players had great moments with each other, which strengthened their bonds. “My favorite memory this season happened on multiple occasions – the bus rides to Majestic Lanes or Lucky Strike,” said junior Juliana Vittitoe. “Me and some of my teammates would have the opportunity to laugh at random memes and create an atmosphere of natural lightheartedness even outside of the competitive setting.”
The seniors season came to an end which brought memories. “The senior night was the highlight to me because it was a memorable way to say goodbye to all the senior bowlers,” said senior Huria Alamgir. “It was heartfelt.”
