On February 26, freshmen lined up for “A Knight in Hollywood.” Over 200 students had a ball at this Hollywood-themed dance at the Ellen McDermott Grade Nine Center.
This event made Old Bridge High School history as the first dance exclusively for freshmen. “It was great having a dance just for freshmen,” said Cassandra Mamo. “It’s nice to have our own special event since all the other grades have theirs.”

DJ Torok and excited staff chaperones welcomed attendees as they arrived. “When I walked in, I felt like I was about to have a great time and the dance was a wonderful idea by our administrators,” said Maurizio Coco.
The Ninth-Grade Leadership Council helped plan this event. “I talked to my classmates and the advisors about what we wanted the theme to be and how to decorate and make it fun for everyone in the grade,” said Leadership Council member Alexander Mondano. “It was so great to see everyone’s hard work and vision come to life.”
Elegant Hollywood themed decor, such as the big Hollywood sign, transformed the EMGNC. “I felt like the Hollywood theme has some of the best decorations,” said Jamie Kopitskie.

Once the night started, students filed onto the dance floor. “My favorite part of the night was dancing with my friends and not having to worry about homework or studying for the night,” said Syna Pandya.
The event offered more than just dancing. The gym featured multiple fun activities, such as corn hole and spike ball. “The spike ball was the best activity besides dancing because it was a fun game to do with my friends that I didn’t expect to see,” stated Coco.
Attendees left with great memories from the dance. “My favorite memory of the night was getting to spend time with my friends outside of school and dancing and singing with them the whole night,” said Mariella Francisco.
