When audiences come to see the spring musical, Me and My Girl, “the atmosphere will lighten.” On March 19, 20, and 21 at 7 PM in the main building auditorium, 37 talented cast members from all grades will perform this 1930’s classic.
Camryn Burniston stars in the comedic musical as Bill Snibson, the long-lost 14th Earl of Hareford. “I really enjoy this show and think it is so funny and has so much heart,” said Burniston.
Throughout the experience, many cast members formed bonds and new friendships with people they would have never met without partaking in the musical. “Throughout last year’s show and this year, I’ve made great relationships with many of the cast members,” said Ethan De Coteau, who plays Sir John, the queen’s confidant.

Since December, when auditions took place, the students have worked hard on preparations for the show. “It is full of dancing, singing, and complex scenes that take time to perfect and we hope it will bring smiles to everyone’s face,” said senior Olivia Medina, who plays the Duchess, who tries to separate Bill from his Cockney girlfriend, Sally, played by fellow senior Emily Barnhardt.

“My favorite part about doing the musical is the friendship I gain and being able to perform,” said Emily Barnhardt. “I am so grateful to be part of the musical and to perform with these amazing people.” Many of the seniors in the cast have dedicated countless hours working on musicals over the past four years.
The departure of last year’s graduating seniors opened opportunities for a variety of new students, including juniors Finnegan Lugay and Nicholas Mutarelli. “My favorite part of the musical is meeting new people and being able to get on stage with people doing something we all collectively love,” said Mutarelli, who plays Sir Jasper Tring.

Finnegan Lugay joined the cast this year after not performing since middle school. “I’m just glad to get back into it,” said Lugay, who plays Gerald, a pompous member of the royal family.
This performance will conclude the high school acting careers of eight talented seniors, leaving behind memories and friendships. “Being part of the musicals throughout high school has given me meaningful friendships and memories,” said Barnhardt. “It’s sad knowing this is my last show and I’ll miss everyone so much, but I’m also beyond excited to perform because it’s such a fun and amazing production.”

Camryn Burniston will end his final year of high school by playing the leading male role for the fourth straight year. “It honestly feels surreal and hasn’t hit me yet. I really enjoy this show and feel it’s so funny and has so much heart,” expressed Burniston. “I’m glad I got to do it for my last year. However, it’s going to be sad leaving the amazing relationship with the people in the drama department.”
