Despite having a schedule full of intimidating competition, the hockey team ended the season with a 7-2 record in the Greater Middlesex County Conference and an 11-12 overall record.
Defeating South Brunswick 5-3 early in the season gave the Knights an inspiring revenge win. “They are always a good team, and it feels a little extra good to beat them, especially since they beat us in GMC finals last year,” explained senior Nicholas Gallo, who led the team with 71 points this season.
On January 6, the team secured another division victory against J.P. Stevens, winning 11-1. “My personal best game had to be when I got my first shutout against J.P. Stevens, who co-ops with Edison,” said sophomore goalie Aiden Ritz. “We won 10-0 and showed them mercy in the beginning of the third period.”

In an unexpected turn of events, the Knights beat Howell High School 5-2 on January 27. “A highlight that stuck out to me the most was our upset win against Howell,” said starting goalie junior Ben Hayon.
The 3-2 victory on February 4 against Saint John Vianney brought another meaningful win for the Knights. “After beating Saint John Vianney, the locker room was very hyped. It felt great to beat a team which is close by,” explained Ritz. “Our coach used to coach them, so it felt great to beat them for him too.”
To make these wins happen, the team constantly trained to play their best. Practicing as a team played a big part in how well they performed. “These practices are fun, high pace, and competitive. They’re just the perfect way to bond and become a family,” said freshman Chase Meyers.

Although the team finished just under 500 overall, they battled throughout the season, never losing more than two games in a row. “A win and loss are a different feeling in the regular season,” said freshman Devin Doctors. “After a loss, all you can think about is your next opponent and that we have to come out on top.”
