The National Chinese Honor Society and the Chinese Club held their Mid-Autumn Festival as their first club event of the year on Wednesday, October 4. The event took place in the courtyard and treated the attendees to riddles, icebreakers, puzzles, traditional snacks, and an abundance of Chinese culture.
“My favorite part was seeing all of the attendees immersing themselves in Chinese culture!” said Co-President of the National Chinese Honor Society Anika Dugal. National Chinese Honor Society Board members informed guests about the cultural history behind the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival through speeches and stories on the microphone.

A highlight of the event featured making traditional Mooncakes, which all guests got to partake in. Co-Vice President Janvee Patel’s stated her favorite moments included “making mini mooncakes with everyone and making lots of memories with the senior board and general members!”

Surrounded by courtyard trees decorated with lanterns, guests could solve any of a hundred Chinese riddles. Arts and crafts lined the tables and refreshments surrounded the area. “I was overall impressed with the way that they were handling the event,” said guest Anusha Perinkolam, “I loved the event and thought that it was super fun.”
The Chinese Honor Society Board members all participated in setting up the Mid-Autumn festival. “The board members stayed after school multiple times to organize and plan,” explained Co-President Karolina Janczuk. “We also spent time after school making decorations, such as the banners and lantern chains, as well as writing riddles for everyone to solve.”

Everyone who attended the event seemed to enjoy it. “I think all of our attendees left with a deep appreciation for the beauty of Chinese culture and an eagerness to learn more,” said Dugal.
