On March 1, The Asian-American Club hosted their highly anticipated event, Mock Shaadi, showcasing a vibrant celebration of Asian culture. The event, held in the school’s cafeteria, featured dance performances, Asian cuisine, and an open dance floor that brought together students of all backgrounds.
“The food was really good,” said senior Sharan Minhas. “It was mostly catered by an Indochinese restaurant called Spice House, along with volunteers that donated food items as well.” The menu included culture-rich dishes, such as paneer, butter chicken, fragrant rice, naan, and more.

AAC’s various dance teams showcased different dance styles to kick off the event. Bollywood groups and the K-Pop dance group showed off their moves on stage as everyone gathered around to watch. “AAC is very inclusive, and I really enjoyed watching the different cultural performances and learning about Asian cultures,” said senior Harlow Matara.

The event didn’t happen without dedication and hard work. Members stayed after school to prepare dances and decorations and plan for the event. “We practiced the dance performances months in advance, and even stayed after school to practice,” said senior Raeva Parmar.
The event ended with an open dance floor, featuring a live DJ. “Dancing with everyone was super fun and inclusive since they played both Indian and English music,” said senior Priya Rana.

AAC works to emphasize the significance of representing one’s culture within the school community. “It’s fun getting dressed up in cultural clothing and seeing everyone in their beautiful outfits as well,” said senior Sriya Nauduri.
The event’s popularity proved evident in its impressive turnout. “The tickets sold out and the event was very successful,” said sophomore Arjun Minhas.

Overall, Mock Shaadi embodied the spirit of diversity and inclusivity that defines Old Bridge High School’s Asian American Club. The annual event serves as a reminder of the beauty of multiculturalism within the school community.
