Multiple clubs embraced the month of love by holding Valentines-themed events. The fundraisers offered many activities for students to enjoy while supporting significant causes.
On February 11, People First held their second annual “Sweetheart Soiree.” The club offered many activities, including a crepe making station. “It was fun competing with my friends and the hosts were really entertaining!” exclaimed junior Elizabeth Tchia.
Prizes, such as large stuffed animals and gift baskets, motivated many to participate in activities like redlight-greenlight. “My favorite part of the event was definitely redlight greenlight because all the attendees seemed excited and eager to win,” said junior Barbare Shonia. “It was rewarding to hear all the laughter in the cafeteria during the game.”

The event raised money for the local pet shelter. “I couldn’t imagine if my dogs were homeless, or in a shelter that didn’t have enough resources to care for them to the fullest extent they want to,” said junior Joshua Kelly. “I wanted to help the shelter in a way I knew I could.”
The club had representatives from the shelter attend to educate those on the importance of supporting animals in need. “Every animal deserves a home so it’s important to keep the pet shelter running to keep them safe!” said Tchia.
Hearts of Hope hosted “Kisses for Cupid” in the GNC cafeteria on February 13. “We wanted to do something that would bring enjoyment to the students as much as it would raise money,” shared President Joniath Javier.

Interactive games and activities ensured an exciting time for attendees. “The music was good, and there were games set up that were fun,” said junior Hailey Palmieri. These games included Giant Jenga, Connect Four, and Spikeball.
The funds raised went to supporting children with cancer. “It’s important because we believe no matter the situation every kid deserves to be happy,” Javier commented. “As much as we cannot take their problems away, we would like to do as much as we can to help.”
The events helped students festively celebrate the holiday. “The environment and decorations of both events really got me into the lovely mood,” said sophomore Faith Okoko.
