On April 30, several freshmen French classes attended a field trip to the Maloney’s restaurant on Main Street in Matawan. Students had a chance to experience new food and another culture, while having fun with their friends.

Students tasted foods they had never tried before, such as chicken liver, which turned out as new and unheard of. “Trying the food there was great and we even had the opportunity to try new things,” said Natalia Marikosvska.

The restaurant brought out an item from the menu called Mousse De Foie De Volaille, chicken liver Mousse. “I enjoyed the chicken and the dessert. The chicken itself was okay, but the cheese and gravy were interestingly tasty,” said Madison Susi.

“My favorite part of the trip was experiencing new cultural foods, and spending time with my friends,” added Leena Awad. “I had an amazing time trying all the foods.” While trying and tasting diverse foods, students connected and shared fun moments.

Everyone who attended the trip had an enjoyable time playing games, taking pictures, and more. “My favorite memory of the day was when my friends and I played a game of ’Out of the Loop’ while waiting for our food,” said Hillary Obasohan. “There were 6 of us, and there was a theme that everyone knew except for one person. That person’s goal is to trick the others into thinking they do know the word.”

Overall, the students had a great time experiencing French cuisine. They enjoyed each other’s company and had a good time while tasting delicious food.
