On December 10, the Asian American Club held their fourth annual Rice Festival in the main building cafeteria. The club showcased their culture through food, games, and dance performances.

Over 60 students attended this year’s festival. “Compared to last year, this year was definitely bigger and better set up,” said junior Aashi Raval, a member of the K-pop dance team.

The event featured delicious food and entertaining performances. “My favorite part was definitely the performances and the food. I actually took part in the Bollywood performance,” said Mira Trivedi, a freshman member of the Indian Dance Team.

New games and dance performances joined this year’s Rice Festival. “There’s been the addition of some games (Ddakji in particular, which is a traditional Korean game featured in Squid Games) and all-new performances from our dance groups, but the heart of the event- sharing culture, along with great food- is always there!” said Adrianna Hui, Vice President of the AAC and a member of the K-pop dance team.

Henna, a form of temporary body art, showcased Asian culture in another way. “The Henna station that they offered was definitely another highlight in my opinion,” said Trivedi.

The K-pop dance team worked hard to perfect their performance for the festival. “As soon as the Rice Festival date was announced we started practicing. Preparation for a performance comes with figuring out songs, making a mix, practicing and teaching dances, making positions, and figuring out outfits!” said Raval.

Everyone present created a welcoming, lively environment. “I would definitely say I love the energy brought to the event by the volunteers and dancers!” said Hui.
