This winter, three Unified teams have represented teamwork and inclusion. Unified Basketball continues a tradition of success with a 9–6 record. The cheer team brought energy and spirit to every game, uplifting both players and fans. For the first time, OBHS introduced a Unified Bowling team, expanding opportunities for even more students.

The basketball team posted an 8–6 regular season record, advancing to the NJSIAA Unified South quarterfinal game on March 3. After defeating Florence High School in the quarterfinals on March 3, the team improved 9–6 overall. “I made a lot of points and baskets, and my season high is 14,” said Adrian Yu, a huge contributor, scoring 122 points this season.

As the team progresses through the season, players continue reaching personal goals. “I’m most proud of playing Neptune because I made three three-pointers,” said Kyle Bassit, the lead scorer for the team with 141 points. “My goal was to score over 100 points, and I did!”

Among all the games played this year, Senior Night held a special meaning. “Senior Night was my favorite memory because it was nice seeing my three years of practice, commitment, and passion rewarded,” said senior Kaitlyn Janks. The basketball team will face Hillsborough in the NJSIAA semifinals at home tomorrow at 4pm.

The cheer team matched the basketball team’s intensity. From school rallies to home games, they never failed to deliver. “My favorite memory was the pep rally and doing our half-time cheer,” said Ava Nowinski, a dedicated member of the team. “I am proud of representing my community and how much progress I [have] made.”

Although the team thrived during performances, some of the most meaningful moments happened during practice. “I have fun with the girls learning the cheers,” said Lydiana Rodriguez.

Throughout the year, the bowlers continued to grow and improve. “I am proud of being on the bowling team and being a better bowler and focusing and getting a strike,” said Tyree Taylor, a bowler who brought energy.

More than competition, the season was about friendships, growth, and making memories that will last. “I love being on the team because everyone is very encouraging and positive,” said sophomore Grace Fortunes. “The team can always brighten someone’s day.”
