Indoor percussion placed in the top five with high scores at all their latest competitions, and they even promoted to a higher class.
In the last performance on March 14, indoor percussion won second place at the North Penn competition. “We worked really hard on our show, and it was the first show where we played the full show!” said Ashleigh Leon. “It was a lot of fun and I’m very proud of us!”

The team finished with a high PSO score of 82.2 and placed high in their new class. “It was super exciting, especially since we were competing in a higher class this week,” said Charlotte Hage.

On February 17, the band finished with a fourth place win out of seventeen other groups at the Downingtown East competition. “It was not too disappointing as we got a time penalty, and we do not have our entire show completed yet, which plays a role in our score, but it shows that we need to put in more work to do better,” said Giancarlo Vallo. Despite the challenges the band faced, they overcame and ended with a PSA score of 81.25.
Because percussion will not travel to Ohio for World Championships, the band will not take part in as many competitions as previous years. “We are performing less shows this year,” said Tyler Florio. “We will need to strive for excellence quicker than we did last year.”

On February 28, the squad promoted to Open Class and came in second place with a PSO score of 75.3. “It felt pretty good knowing that we are going into the competition season with a smaller group and yet still placing high,” said Heather Boelhower.
Despite encountering obstacles, the band remained positive and proud of their achievements. “I was very happy with our place and our score because we did our best, regardless of curveballs, and played well,” said Leon.
Although the team does not contain as many members as last year, that allows the band to unite and conquer together. “This season there are a lot less people in the program, so it means you are in the spotlight at all times,” said Vallo.
The musicians look forward to maintaining their success as they prepare for their final competitions, including the MAPS competition in Pennsylvania tomorrow. “My goals for this competition season are to continue to score amongst the top groups at every competition,” said Hailey Spiro.
