On October 7, underclassmen gathered in the cafeteria to have a great night with friends and take their shot at winning various prizes. This event, hosted by the Student Senate, gave attendees a warm welcome to high school.

Organizer and student senate supervisor Lori Obdyke made the decision to limit the event to underclassmen only.  “It felt better since it was more comfortable and less intimidating than if there were seniors and juniors,” said freshman Jamie Kopitskie.

The Student Senate started hosting bingo nights to get kids out of the house after the pandemic. “It sounded fun, and I wanted to hang out with my friends,” said sophomore Kaitlyn Thompson.

During the intermission, attendees flocked to buy their favorite chips and candies at the snack table managed by board members. “We had a bunch of snacks to offer and most bought them,” said Vice President of the Student Senate Jolie Vasfailo.

Many students received various prizes, such as Squishmallows and gift cards. “I felt the prizes were good! Especially the gift cards,” stated Kopitskie. “I was pretty lucky. I love my disco ball lights.”

The Student Senate introduced other versions of bingo like the “T” or the “X”. “I enjoyed the different types of bingo because it kept the game interesting and non-repetitive,” explained Cecelia Boyle.

Students shouted more than just “Bingo.”Obdyke taught underclassmen catchy sayings to make the experience more interactive and entertaining. “We were taught to say different things,” said Boyle. “Whenever they called B4, we would all yell ‘and after’”

The night concluded with students eager for another event. “I would definitely go to another event like this,” shared Kopitskie. “It was a really fun experience and a way to connect with friends.”
