Junior Prom, hosted in the main building cafeteria on May 21, gave juniors an outlet to celebrate the end of the school year through food, elegant attire, and dance.
Purple flowers, yellow suns, and lively greenery effectively portrayed this year’s theme, Tangled. “I loved the theme,” said Michaela Lupica. “The decorations and color coding were beautiful, and they transformed it like we weren’t at school.”

The DJ from Island entertainment played a variety of songs for students to dance the night away to. “I would say my overall favorite part of the event was the music,” shared Ourari. “Most of the songs the DJ played through the night were songs that many of us grew up listening to.”

Standout songs included the common “Mr. Brightside,” “Dreams and Nightmares,” and “Old Town Road.” “I would say a highlight was when they played Dreams and Nightmares because me and all my friends ran to the dance floor and had a lot of fun,” said Devyn Morris.
All attendees did their best to make everyone on the dance floor comfortable and excited to dance and celebrate. “Some highlights from the event were making dance circles, pushing people on to dance, taking pictures at the booth, [and] singing songs out loud with nobody caring,” said Ourari.

Christopher Bedell had the opportunity to be featured on official Island Entertainment Social Media pages and show off his dance moves. “There was an instance where I was called to the front, so that was the climax of the night,” said Bedell.
On top of dancing and decorations, food options included Penne Vodka, chicken fingers, macaroni and cheese, meatballs, and many delicious treats, such as cookies. “Some highlights from this event would be the entrance into the dance and the food that they had there,” said Isabella Monaco.

The event marked the end of an especially demanding school year and promoted excitement for entering the final year of high school. “It’s definitely an interesting way to end the year off,” said Bedell. “I’ll probably remember this event for a long time to come.”
Attendees agree that students should not miss their chance to attend Junior Prom. “I would recommend incoming juniors to attend junior prom next year because there was good food and a great atmosphere,” said Morris.
